Week of December 17-21

Monday-(FCAT Writing Scoring Rubic)
Today we went over the Writing Rubric and highlighted relevant details. We also began scoring anchor papers based on the writing rubric

Tuesday- (Planning Practice)
Today students reviewed how to effectively plan an essay, and practiced creating a 360 degree essay.
Extra Credit- Clink on the link: Planning Practice and complete by submitting online. 

Wednesday  & Thursday-(SEMESTER FINAL) No backpacks, be prepared to write. :)

Friday- (The Grinch)
Book report projects will be returned, and students will identify elements of Figurative Language used in Dr. Seuss's "The Grinch."

Week of December 10-14

Monday (Activity #11)
Today students review tools of persuasion using the stories "The Trouble with Television," and "Sharing the American Dream."

Tuesday (Writing-Brainstorming and Flee Map)
Today students viewed examples of FLEE Map to plan their writing. We created the brainstorming handout and created a hook and thesis statement.

Wednesday (Get Hooked)
Today we looked at students samples of writing hooks and used the "Get Hooked," handout to create our own hooks.

Friday (Police Dog Trainer Presentation)
Today we had a special treat by having two officers of the law! One was canine :)

Week of December 3-7

Activities 7-10 and BAV words Persuade-Support due Friday! 

Monday
Today students completed learned BAV words pertaining to "Tools of Persuasion." Students were able to view examples and definitions of these words by viewing a Prezi. If you were absent, please refer to the link.

Tuesday (Activity #9)
Today students read The Trouble with Television (pgs. 668-671 in Lit. textbook), and completed the relevant details handout.

Wednesday (Activity #10)
Students watch a view biography on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and began reading The American Dream (pgs. 672-674 in Lit. textbook). Students used reciprocal teaching strategies to predict, clarify, questions, and summarize the passage.

Thursday (Reviewing Relevant Details)-
Today students reviewed relevant details in preparation for their test tomorrow. Students also brainstormed some persuasive ideas.

Friday
Students demonstrated their knowledge of relevant details through testing and was able to continue brainstorming persuasive writing ideas.
